Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2 project, the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway, and the Nguyen Khoai Bridge and Road project, are slated to commence construction in October and November 2025, respectively.
Among these, sections 1 and 2 of the Ring Road are targeted to break ground by December this year.
Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2 project comprises three main sections: Section 1 from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street, approximately 3.6 km long; Section 2 from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, approximately 2.5 km long; and Section 3 from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua - National Highway 1 intersection.
The two crucial sections, Sections 1 and 2 (located in the former Thu Duc City), are currently finalizing procedures for approving construction drawings and cost estimates to organize bidding for construction and installation in October and November, with construction anticipated to begin by December 2025.
Concurrently, construction and installation package XL02 - Binh Thai interchange (an item within Section 1) is also undergoing parallel procedures for appraisal, design approval, and contractor selection. If all goes according to plan, this package will officially commence construction by the end of December 2025.
Regarding the construction and installation package for the Ring Road 2 - Pham Van Dong interchange (an item belonging to Section 2), the Ho Chi Minh City Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Projects stated that dossiers are being urgently completed and preparations for bidding procedures are underway; with construction expected to start in December 2025.
However, the timely commencement of Ring Road 2 Sections 1 and 2 as planned is contingent on land handover.
