After suffering the most from Covid-19, Ho Chi Minh City’s recovery has been the strongest in Vietnam.
The brightest spot in the city’s economic development is its gross regional domestic product (GRDP), which increased 9.4 per cent as of August 2022, surpassing the target of 6-6.5 per cent.
The industrial and construction sector rose 11.49 per cent year-on-year, the services sector 9.88 per cent, and the agro, forestry and fisheries sector 3.5 per cent.
It posted export revenue of $49.5 billion last year, up 10.3 per cent compared to the previous year.
Such results show that Ho Chi Minh City strives to overcome the difficulties to recover and develop its economy. However, Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Phan Van Mai warned that the city should not be subjective, and asked leaders of relevant departments, sectors, and agencies to continue reviewing the progress of the implementation of assigned tasks and closely monitor the situation to adopt a prompt response.
