Ho Chi Minh City plans to build 35,000 social housing units on a total of 2.5 million sq m in the 2021-2025 period, according to the municipal People’s Committee.
It also targets building 4,500 houses for workers.
The southern city built and put into operation 19 social housing projects in the 2016-2020 period, supplying 14,954 units, and one housing project for workers with 1,449 units.
As of the end of the second quarter of 2023, it had completed and put into use two social housing projects with 623 apartments. Six other social housing projects and one housing project for workers are being implemented with a total of nearly 5,000 units.
The city is considering 82 other social housing projects as part of its social housing development plan.
