Of the total approximately VND60 trillion ($2.34 billion) to be invested in four gateway routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring localities and regions, nearly VND10 trillion ($391 million) will be allocated for the North-South arterial road project (the project) which is planned to be built elevated with a length of over 7 km.
Under the projected plan, the road running parallel to Nguyen Huu Tho Street, from Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, will be upgraded and expanded with a total length of 8.6 km, including a 7.2-km section to be built elevated.
The elevated road will have a four-lane width with a design speed of 80 km per hour, while the ground-level route and parallel roads on both sides will have a three-lane width each, with a maximum speed of 60 km per hour.
The project's component funded by state budget will commence in Q4-2025, while its component under BOT practice is expected to begin in Q1-2026 and be completed in 2028.
