The Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh give the green light to an investment to build a high-end tourism project with a casino in the Van Don Economic Zone in northern Quang Ninh province.
The project is planned to cover 244.45 ha in Van Yen commune, Van Don district, the Quang Ninh online newspaper has reported.
It has estimated investment capital of over VND51.55 trillion ($2.18 billion).
Investment will be divided into three periods and is scheduled to take nine years, from the fourth quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2032.
Authorities in Quang Ninh said the project is expected to help boost national competitiveness in the field of services as well as create growth, improve the investment environment, and increase State budget contributions and job creation.
The province estimated that during its 70 years of operation the project will contribute more than VND228.9 trillion ($9.6 billion) to the local budget and employ 12,000-15,000 workers.
