Hue City (a new centrally-run city upgraded from central Thua Thien - Hue province) aims to attract approximately 4.8 - 5 million tourists in 2025, with international visitors accounting for about 38-40% of the total.
The total revenue from tourism is expected to reach approximately VND10.8 – 11.2 trillion (over $425 – 441 million).
Concurrently, the newly established city is calling for investment in 3-5 projects to build 5-star standard hotels and resorts, as stated by Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the city's Department of Tourism.
To achieve these goals, the city will focus on solutions to accelerate the restructuring of its tourism industry as a modern, qualified, and sustainable sector.
According to Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Hue will host the National Tourism Year 2025 with the slogan "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities," in conjunction with the Hue Festival 2025. This is expected to open up many new opportunities for the city in attracting tourists and investors in the tourism sector.
In 2024, the central locality welcomed nearly 3.9 million visitors, a 21.8% increase compared to 2023.
This includes nearly 1.45 million international visitors, accounting for nearly 36% of the total and representing a 16.6% increase compared to 2023.
The main tourist markets were ASEAN, Northeast Asia, Western Europe, North America, and Australia.
The total tourism revenue for the locality was estimated at VND7.9 trillion ($311 million), a 19.6% increase compared to 2023, meeting the tourism targets for 2024.
