The Institute for Innovation and Development (IDD) has launched three digital innovation platforms to boost the sustainable development of social enterprises.
The three platforms are iMapVietnam, at http://imapvietnam.org, impactUP, at https://impactup.site, and V.innovate, at http://vinnovate.vn.
iMapVietnam is a business authentication and impact measurement platform for businesses involved in sustainable development in Vietnam.
impactUP, meanwhile, is a platform for training, incubating, and accelerating social entrepreneurship among Vietnamese people. And V.innovate is a platform for universities and localities to evaluate the startup ecosystem and social impact.
Director of the Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Truong Thi Nam Thang, who is also the lead researcher at IDD, said national studies conducted by the Institute show that the greatest challenge facing social innovation and entrepreneurship is a lack of access to human resources, markets, and capital as well as a supportive ecosystem.
The development of the three platforms will help tackle three pressing issues, including securing high-quality human resources for social entrepreneurship, measuring the impact of businesses on Vietnam’s sustainable development goals, and evaluating universities and the development level of businesses in localities around Vietnam, she said.
As of 2021, Vietnam had more than 300 social enterprises registered under the Law on Business. Most are of small size.
