The number of domestic inventions and solutions per capita in Vietnam posted average annual growth of 9.11 per cent during the 2013-2022 period, according to the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam.
Domestic individuals and organizations have paid greater attention to intellectual property rights in recent times. The total number of patent applications filed by Vietnamese applicants over the past decade was 2.27-times higher than foreign applicants in Vietnam.
The annual growth in utility solution applications by Vietnamese applicants (8.82 per cent) was also higher than by foreign applicants in the country (4.74 per cent) during the period.
The Office received 140,903 applications in 2022, including 78,086 industrial property applications, a year-on-year rise of 7.1 per cent.
Inspectors found 1,430 cases of trademark infringement last year and fined violators more than VND18 billion ($753,000).
