The northern province of Ha Nam continues to actively create favorable conditions and provide timely support for Japanese investment projects across key sectors, including industrial production, construction, and healthcare, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency.
During a May 20 meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Tran Xuan Duong, welcomed a visiting delegation from the Department of Industry and Tourism of Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
“In addition to industrial zones with modern and synchronized infrastructure,” Mr. Duong stated, “Ha Nam is focusing on enhancing transportation infrastructure to improve connectivity with other localities in the Red River Delta region, fostering economic growth.”
He reaffirmed that Japanese businesses are regarded as key partners in the province’s investment attraction strategy.
Currently, Japan ranks as the second-largest foreign investor in Ha Nam, with over 100 projects spanning mechanical engineering, automobile and motorcycle manufacturing, and electronics—many of which have demonstrated effective operations and expansion.
At the meeting, Mr. Kawase Tomohisa, Director of Trade and Industry Promotion at the Department of Industry and Tourism of Nagahama City, noted that Japanese businesses operating in Ha Nam have found great success, highlighting the province’s favorable investment environment.
He further emphasized that many businesses in Shiga Prefecture are keenly interested in investing in Ha Nam and expressed hope that the province would continue to facilitate opportunities for new investors.
Shiga Prefecture currently hosts nearly 9,000 Vietnamese workers, including over 750 in Nagahama City. Given this dynamic workforce, Mr. Tomohisa said, Nagahama City seeks to collaborate with Ha Nam province on vocational training and skill development initiatives to further enhance employment opportunities for Vietnamese workers in Nagahama City.
