The Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has approved the construction master planning for the Dam Mon seaport and urban area and the Co Ma - Tu Bong tourism urban area in the Van Phong tourism urban area.
The two areas are subdivisions of the south-central province’s Van Phong Economic Zone (EZ).
The Dam Mon seaport and urban area will cover a land area of 4,445 ha and a water area of 3,831 ha, and is to develop into an urban area with ecological tourism services and an international seaport.
The Co Ma - Tu Bong tourism urban area, meanwhile, will cover 6,631 ha in Van Ninh district, including 5,386 ha of land and 1,245 ha of water area. It will be developed to meet needs for commercial services, research, conferences, and tourism.
Earlier, the Prime Minister approved adjustments to the construction master plan for Van Phong Economic Zone by 2040 with a vision towards 2050.
Under the plan, Van Phong will have a total area of 150,000 ha, including 70,000 ha of land and 80,000 ha of water area.
It has been identified as a multi-sector, multi-field general economic zone that plays a leading role in attracting investment and is a driving force of economic development for neighboring regions and the country as a whole. The marine economy is the foundation, with an international container transshipment port and logistics services, urban, tourism, and industrial services playing an important role, combined with the development of other economic sectors.
It is also envisioned as a center of high-end general tourism and entertainment services, offering unique, different, and modern tourism products and services with high quality, brand names, and international competitiveness, and an area for sustainable smart urban development with synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure.
