The Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights 2023, which will feature new regulations on better protecting consumers in the modern era, especially in cyberspace, will take effect from July 1, 2024, according to an announcement from the President’s Office on July 17 on the President’s order on the promulgation of laws adopted at the fifth session of the 15th-tenure National Assembly.
Replacing the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights 2010, the new Law comprises seven chapters and 80 articles.
It was amended to complete institutions to ensure stability, transparency, and feasibility in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of consumers.
It is also aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and innovation of businesses and improving the efficiency of State management in protecting consumer rights.
New regulations are added to protect consumers in specific transactions such as online transactions, remote transaction, direct selling, and multi-level marketing.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will soon build a plan to implement the law and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.
