After nearly six months of suspension for upgrades, Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province in the Central Highlands officially resumed operations on August 19, restoring domestic services and gradually reopening international routes.
The airport was expected to handle 28 flights on its first day back in operation, with domestic services connecting Da Lat with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong and Can Tho.
Internationally, the Da Lat–Kuala Lumpur route is scheduled to resume in September, with four flights per week, while the Da Lat–Singapore route in December 2026, with three flights per week.
The runway and taxiway upgrade project, invested in by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), has a total investment of more than VND1.032 trillion ($39 million).
Following the upgrades, Lien Khuong Airport will retain its 4D classification and continue to serve both civil and military operations, handling domestic and international flights. The upgraded airside infrastructure is capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787, paving the way for further expansion of the airport’s route network.
During the initial period after reopening, the airport is expected to handle around 36-40 flights per day and serve approximately 6,800 passengers daily. Passenger throughput in the final four months of 2026 is projected to reach about 816,000.
