The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has called on localities participating in the Improved Land Governance and Database (VILG) Project to speed up progress and fulfil targets.

Speaking at a conference on February 9, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Minh Ngan said disbursement was low while the remaining workload was huge.

“The implementation of the VILG project has faced numerous difficulties due to adjustments in the financial mechanism and capital arrangement, Covid-19, and confusion about realizing sponsor regulations,” said Deputy Minister Ngan.

According to the Management Board, the project had disbursed $48.752 million as of January 31, equivalent to 38.8 per cent of the total capital.

Thus, he went on, the key task in 2023 is to make every effort to complete the project as committed and reach the targets set, contributing to digital transformation and administrative reform in land management.

Starting in March 2017, the project was slated to end in June 2023.

Using loans from the World Bank, it aims to improve the efficiency and transparency of land administration services in a number of localities through the development and implementation of the national Multipurpose Land Information System.
