Within the framework of the International Fluorine Forum 2022, 200 leaders of global fluorine production and trading businesses met in Hanoi from October 11-14 to discuss supply and demand from mining to market for fluorine, an industrially-important mineral. This was the first time the Forum was held in Vietnam.

The Forum was first organized by Industrial Mineral Forum & Research Ltd (IMFORMED) in 2017 and has been held annually since, with the participation of business leaders and mining experts to review and discuss supply and demand in the fluorine market.

On the last day of the event, delegates paid a visit to the Nui Phao Multimetallic Tungsten Mine in northern Thai Nguyen province, which is under the management of Masan High-Tech Materials, a member of the Masan Group. With the largest tungsten reserves in the world, of 66 million tons, the mine has a capacity of producing 3.5 million tons of ore each year.

Members of the delegation were impressed by the way the mine is organized and managed, its investment in technology and modern processing lines, its construction and arrangement, and the compact production process, and evaluated the company as an example of sustainable and responsible mining practices in Vietnam. And after witnessing the extraction process, delegates were also surprised by the efforts to effectively use water and energy resources in production.

Previously, Masan High-Tech Materials also greeted the International Association of Mining Professors at Nui Phao Mine within the framework of the Southeast Asia Conference in 2022. Delegates were impressed with the modern production process supported by mining management software and advanced processing, which has helped Masan High-Tech Materials optimize the recovery rate and raise the value of Vietnam’s resources.

In addition to mining operations, Masan High-Tech Materials has also raised economic development in the region by investing in supporting industries around the facility, which benefits local people and Thai Nguyen province. After a successful transformation from a mining business to a high-tech material processing company, Masan High-Tech Materials continues to focus on research and development of highly-applicable products, aiming to become a global consumer technology enterprise.
