Metro Line No.1 serves 10 mln passengers in 6M

The first metro line of HCM City and Vietnam was officially launched last December.

The Metro Line No. 1, which connects Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park in Ho Chi Minh City, has served around 10 million passengers in six months of operation, according to the HCM City Urban Railway Company No.1 (HURC1).

Total revenue was estimated at VND91 billion ($3.47 million).

The metro line has operated 200 train trips daily in service of an average of over 59,000 passengers a day.

The Metro line was officially launched on December 22, 2024, becoming the first metro in operation in Vietnam.

The 19.7 km line runs from Ben Thanh Market in district 1 to Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc city, marking the first of eight planned routes for Ho Chi Minh City's mass transit system.

It has 14 stations, including eleven elevated and three underground.
