Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung has underscored the need for swift and decisive action to build a thriving semiconductor industry ecosystem and fully leverage the immense opportunities available, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.
The ongoing eighth session of the 15th National Assembly is expected to vote soon on amendments to several key laws, including the Law on Planning, the Law on Investment, the Law on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Investment, and the Law on Bidding.
This is seen as a crucial opportunity to attract further investment in science and technology, particularly in innovative projects such as semiconductor manufacturing, high-tech industries, and integrated circuit development.
Minister Dung highlighted the growing importance of high-tech industries, including semiconductors, as economic pillars for many countries globally. He noted that nations are reforming to rapidly integrate into the semiconductor value chain.
Vietnam is actively developing its semiconductor industry ecosystem, and has already attracted significant investors such as Cadence, Synopsys, Qorvo, Siemens, Marvell, and ARM.
The Minister of Planning and Investment agrees with experts that the global chip race is intensifying, presenting Vietnam with a unique opportunity to become a player in the semiconductor value chain. This opportunity offers unprecedented socio-economic growth potential, but time is of the essence.
“It is essential to have decisive and timely action to develop a robust semiconductor industry ecosystem and capitalize on this significant opportunity,” Minister Dung said.
