The Ministry of Transport has reported to the Government its plan for investing in the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway, which will pass through the Central Highland province of Gia Lai and the south-central coastal province of Binh Dinh.
In its proposal, the ministry asked the Government to consider the shift from Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to public investment for the project.
The preparation for the project is expected to begin in 2025, with investment, construction, and operation to be carried out during 2026-2030. The project will span a total length of approximately 123 km, with 37.4 km running through Binh Dinh and 85.6 km through Gia Lai.
According to the ministry's plan, the expressway will be constructed with four lanes and a roadbed width of 24.75 m, to be designed for a speed of 100 km/h. In difficult terrain areas like the An Khe and Mang Yang tunnels, the design includes four lanes with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
Preliminary estimates by the ministry indicate that the total investment for the project is approximately VND36.594 trillion (over $1.43 billion), including more than VND3.7 trillion ($145 million) for land clearance costs.
