More than 14.1 million foreign tourists arrived in Vietnam over the last 10 months of this year, making a year-on-year increase of 41.3 per cent, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
In October alone, the number of foreign visitors travelling to the country reached over 1.4 million, up 11.4 per cent against the previous month and 27.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.
During the month, South Korea maintained its position as Vietnam's top tourist source with 367,022 visitors, followed by China with 305,464 visitors, Taiwan (China) with 108,861, the U.S. with 58,221, Japan with 55,902, India with 41,391, Australia with 40,600, Cambodia with 40,030, Thailand with 38,795 and Malaysia with 35,932.
During January-October period, total tourism revenue was estimated at VND690 trillion ($27.1 billion).
Favorable visa policies, various tourism promotion programs, and prestigious tourism awards granted by international organizations have helped Vietnam to become increasingly attractive to international visitors.
It targets to welcome 17-18 million foreign tourists in 2024, approaching the pre-pandemic record in 2019.
