The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has sought feedback from relevant ministries and agencies on a project to build the Saigon gateway international transshipment port in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Saigon Port Joint Stock Company and the Terminal Investment Limited Holding S.A proposed the implementation of the project to MPI on April 6.

Total investment is estimated at VND2.3 trillion ($97 million).

The MPI asked for opinions from relevant ministries about project implementation relating to national defense and security, sovereignty, sovereign rights, jurisdiction, and national interest towards the waters.

It requested that authorities in Ho Chi Minh City explain the importance of the project in the city’s planning and socio-economic development and assess its socio-economic efficiency.
