Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank – HOSE: NAB) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Proparco, the development finance institution of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), to strengthen the mobilization of green financial resources in Vietnam, marking a step forward in the bank’s push toward sustainable finance.

The signing ceremony took place in Paris during a high-level working visit by Nam A Bank’s leadership to Europe, marking a step in the bank’s strategy to internationalize sustainable capital and expand its network of global financial partners.

Under the agreement, the two sides will focus on promoting the development and mobilization of green financial resources. A key component of the partnership is the Green Finance Community, an initiative proposed by Nam A Bank at the Vietnam International Financial Center.

The collaboration with Proparco, a subsidiary of the Agence Française de Développement, is expected to facilitate the sharing of international resources and support efforts to position Ho Chi Minh City as a destination for green capital and sustainable development.

The signing comes as Proparco is evaluating a $30 million loan with a five-year term to support Nam A Bank’s green credit portfolio. The proposed financing aligns with the bank’s strategy to expand environmentally focused lending activities.

Proparco has completed its due diligence and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes at Nam A Bank. According to representatives from the institution, the bank has demonstrated stable growth and operational safety despite economic fluctuations. Its integration of environmental and social (E&S) standards into operations was also highlighted as a basis for further cooperation.

“This MoU is not only a recognition of an international development finance institution’s trust in Nam A Bank but also a significant step in our journey to elevate our operational standards,” a representative from Nam A Bank said. “We believe Proparco’s partnership will enable us to expand green financial resources and spread sustainable development values to the Vietnamese business community and the economy.”

Nam A Bank said it continues to pursue a development strategy based on digitalization and sustainability, with a focus on improving access to capital for domestic enterprises.

Proparco focuses on private sector development and operates in more than 100 countries, with billions of euros in assets and investments globally.
