The Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC) at the Ministry of Planning and Investment should become a rendezvous point for intellectuals from around the world to create resources to spread the benefits of innovation to all of society, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said while visiting the Center in Hanoi on March 4.
The NIC was set up under a Prime Ministerial Decision in 2019 with total investment of VND4.04 trillion ($10.3 million) to support and develop startup and innovation ecosystems in Vietnam.
Three years on, the Center has basically formed an innovation ecosystem with three key pillars: the State, institutes and universities, and businesses and relevant entities, including supporting, incubation, and innovation centers, networks of experts, intellectuals and consultants, and investment funds and financial organizations.
The NIC has many important partners, such as giant tech groups like Viettel, FPT, Google, Meta, Amazon, and Hitachi, domestic and international research institutes and universities as well as science and technology and innovation centers, together with nearly 200 investment funds.
