Airports around Vietnam welcomed 54 million passengers in the first six months of 2024, equal to 97% compared to the same period last year, figures from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam show, as quoted by Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) online newspaper.
Regarding the domestic market, Vietnamese airlines transported more than 17 million domestic passengers during the six-month period, equivalent to 82% of the same period last year.
The domestic market experienced a decline due to the shortage of aircraft fleets, forcing airlines to reduce supply on domestic routes.
However, the international market enjoyed a year-on-year growth of 38% with more than 20 million international passengers were transported.
Of which, Vietnamese airlines transported nearly 9 million foreign passengers, up 28% year-on-year, accounting for 44% of the international passenger transport market share in Vietnam.
