Nearly 22,800 businesses have resumed operation in January, marking an increase of 2.6 times compared to the previous month and a 65.2% rise from the same period in 2024.
This is the highest number of businesses returning to the market since January 2022, which saw 19,100 businesses resuming operation, according to the General Statistics Office.
In January 2025, nearly 10,700 new businesses were established nationwide, with a registered capital of nearly VND94.1 trillion (approximately $3.72 billion) and over 81,500 employees. This represents a 6.6% increase in the number of businesses compared to December 2024, although registered capital decreased by 2.4% and the number of employees decreased by 14.8%.
Compared to the same period last year, January 2025 saw a 30.3% decrease in the number of businesses, a 39.3% decrease in registered capital, and a 22.3% decrease in the number of employees.
However, the additional registered capital of operating businesses in January 2025 increased sharply, reaching over VND367.2 trillion (over $14.5 billion), a 157.9% increase from the same period in 2024.
By economic sector, January 2025 saw the establishment of 113 new businesses in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sector, a 33.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In the industrial and construction sector, 2,544 new businesses were established, a 29.6% decrease, while the service sector saw the establishment of 7,996 new businesses, a 30.4% decrease.
