Nearly 11,600 newly established enterprises were registered nationwide in September with total registered capital of nearly VND175.8 trillion (nearly $6.8 billion) and almost 75,500 registered workers, according to the data released by the National Statistics Office on October 3.
This represented a 4.9% decline in the number of businesses and a 7.2% decrease in registered capital, but a 25% increase in registered labor compared to August.
Year-on-year, the number of new enterprises dropped 31.1%, while registered capital rose 6% and registered workers decreased 22.2%. Average registered capital per newly incorporated enterprise in September stood at VND15.2 billion (nearly $587,000), down 2.4% month-on-month but up 53.9% year-on-year.
In addition, 8,700 enterprises resumed operations during the month, down 8.1% from the previous month and down 18.9% against September 2025.
Across the first nine months of 2026, nearly 149,700 new enterprises were incorporated nationwide with total registered capital of VND1.88 quadrillion (nearly $73 billion). This reflected a 3.2% increase in the number of newly established businesses and a 32.7% jump in registered capital.
Average registered capital per newly formed enterprise in the January–September period reached VND12.6 billion (over $486,000), up 28.5% year-on-year.
Total additional capital injected into the economy across the nine months reached over VND5 quadrillion ($193 billion), up 6.1% over the corresponding period of 2025. Meanwhile, nearly 74,300 enterprises resumed operations, down 14% year-on-year.
In total, newly registered enterprises and those resuming operations reached over 223,900 in the first nine months of 2026, a 3.2% decline year-on-year—averaging 24,900 market entrants and re-entrants per month.
By economic sector, the first nine months saw 1,558 new enterprises in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, up 17% year-on-year; over 36,900 new enterprises in industry and construction, up 14.1%; and nearly 111,200 new enterprises in services, down 0.1%.
On market exits, nearly 89,800 enterprises temporarily suspended operations over the nine-month period, down 9.7% year-on-year; 33,500 enterprises halted operations pending dissolution procedures, down 37%; while more than 48,700 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, surging 118.8%.
On average, 19,100 businesses exited the market each month during the f nine-months period.
