Anh Tú -

$347mln bridge to link the capital’s Bac Tu Liem and Dong Anh districts.

The Hanoi People’s Council has given the green light to a plan to build a bridge across the Red River connecting Bac Tu Liem and Dong Anh districts, with total estimated investment of VND8.3 trillion ($347 million).

The Thuong Cat Bridge is one of ten crossing the Red River under plans from the city’s transport sector in the 2015-2030 period.

Construction of the 5.2-km bridge is scheduled to begin this year and be completed by 2027.

It will have eight lanes, a speed limit of 80 km/h, and will ease congestion and boost production and business.

To ensure the traffic network is well-coordinated, the Hanoi People’s Council also approved the construction of ring roads from Thuong Cat Bridge to National Highway No. 32, with total investment of around VND1.5 trillion ($62.7 million). Construction is to be completed in 2026.
