Vice Chairwoman of the State Securities Commission (SSC) Vu Thi Chan Phuong has been appointed Chairwoman.

Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc handed over the appointment decision to Ms. Phuong on January 9.

She is the first Chairwoman of the SSC since it was established in 1996.

Phuong was born in 1971 in northern Nam Dinh province, and has a master’s degree in economics.

She began working at the SSC in 1998, holding the positions of Deputy Chief Inspector and Chief Inspector. In July 2016, she was appointed Vice Chairman.

Speaking at the ceremony handing over the appointment decision, Minister of Finance Phoc said the securities sector has recorded outstanding achievements over the past 26 years and gradually proven its role as a mid- and long-term capital mobilization channel for the economy and businesses, contributing to Vietnam’s development.
