Construction of the new Phong Chau Bridge, spanning the Red River and connecting Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts in Phu Tho province, is scheduled to commence on December 22.

The project is expected to take 12 months to complete.

According to the approved plan, the new Phong Chau Bridge project, part of  National Highway 32C, is being invested under an emergency construction order with a total length of nearly 653 m. The main bridge will be over 383 m long,  with a width of 20.5 m, matching the width of the roadbed.

The total investment capital for the project is over VND635 billion ($25 million), funded from the State budget.

In September 2024, the Phong Chau Bridge collapsed in two spans due to the impacts of powerful Typhoon Yagi, causing significant damage to both life and property.
