Nearly 16,000 new enterprises were established in April with total registered capital of VND154.6 trillion ($6.52 billion), figures from the General Statistics Office show.
The figures represent increases of 12.3 per cent and 6.2 per cent, respectively, compared to March.
The number of newly-established enterprises in the first four months totaled 49,900, with registered capital of nearly VND465 trillion ($19.6 billion), up 0.6 per cent and down 26.8 per cent, respectively, year-on-year.
Existing enterprises resuming operations in April reached 9,610, up 52.9 per cent against March and 36.6 per cent year-on-year, bringing the number in the first fourth months to nearly 29,000.
April also saw 7,163 businesses registering for a temporary suspension of operations, a year-on-year rise of 32.9 per cent.
Over 5,830 enterprises ceased operations while waiting to complete dissolution procedures, up 55.2 per cent year-on-year, while 1,509 businesses were dissolved, up 23 per cent year-on-year.
