North-central Nghe An province attracted $725 million worth of FDI in the first half of the year, a 1.32-fold increase compared with the same period last year, according to Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Trung.
The figure brought total investment in the province from both foreign and domestic investors to over VND22.19 trillion ($936 million) during the period.
Mr. Trung also reported that Nghe An posted GRDP growth of 5.79 per cent in the first half.
Total export revenue exceeded $1 billion, and the province’s Index of Industrial Production increased 1.79 per cent.
Its socio-economic development has been affected by lower export orders, shrinking purchasing power, and slower growth in production and trade, he added.
