A scientific workshop on exploiting the Halal market, held in Nghe An Province in Central Vietnam on October 20, attracted numerous experts, scientists, and businesses.

With a global market size of trillions of US dollars, Halal products are considered a promising direction for the export of agricultural products, food, tourism, and services from Nghe An province.

At the workshop, delegates discussed legal frameworks and policies to support businesses, analyzed the development prospects of Halal tourism in Nghe An, and the feasibility of building standard raw material areas for export of Halal products. Many specific solutions were proposed to help the locality expand its share in the Halal market.

The province aims to build a strategy for developing key products including seafood, tea, spices, medicinal herbs, and tourism services for Halal markets. Raw material areas will be planned to meet VietGAP or GlobalGAP standards, while digital technology such as blockchain for traceability  will be applied. Training a team of technical staff and on-site Halal consulting experts is considered a key solution to enhance production capacity and market access.

A complete Halal value chain will be established, from raw materials, processing, certification, to logistics and trade promotion. This will be accompanied by raising businesses' awareness of the standards and consumption culture of the Muslim community to adapt flexibly to this market. International trade promotion activities will be strengthened through fairs, partner connections, and building the brand "Halal Nghe An – reliable, standard, sustainable."

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien, emphasized that the discussions from the workshop will be an important basis for the province to build a systematic Halal development strategy, while also strengthening training, supporting businesses, and promoting a production mindset linked to international standards.

With a proactive approach and clear development orientation, Nghe An expects to become a reliable destination on the regional and global Halal map. Expanding access to this market is considered a crucial direction to boost exports, attract investment, and develop the province's tourism industry in the coming time, he said.
