North-central Nghe An province has set a target of achieving average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 10.5-11 per cent each year in its master planning for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, which has been approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
Industry and construction is expected to make up 42-42.5 per cent, services 39-39.5 per cent, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries 13.5-14 per cent.
GRDP per capita is to reach $7,500-8,000 by 2030.
Nghe An will focus on developing two regions as growth drivers: the expanded Vinh city and the expanded South Nghe An Economic Zone.
The province will implement three strategic breakthroughs, including completing institutions and policies, improving the investment and business environment in connection with administrative reform, and enhancing decentralization to promote the initiative, responsibility, and innovation of authorities at all levels.
Investment will be focused on building infrastructure in a modern and comprehensive manner to meet development demand, especially transport infrastructure, to create links for further development, and also on promoting science, technology, innovation, and human resources development.
The province will develop five key sectors: industry, trade and services, tourism, high-tech agriculture, and the marine-based economy.
