The People's Committee of central Nghe An province has tasked its Department of Planning and Investment, in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade and other relevant agencies, to expedite the approval procedures for the investment policy and select the investor for the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project in the first quarter of 2025, in accordance with legal processes.
The project stands as a pivotal initiative that the Nghe An provincial government is committed to accelerating. Presently, the project has garnered considerable interest from both domestic and international investors, with many having already submitted applications.
According to the People's Committee, the total investment for the project is estimated at approximately $2.11 billion.
This investment covers various components, including the LNG power plant, gas storage facility, receiving port, breakwater, and auxiliary works, all spanning a total area of roughly 210 to 360 ha.
Additionally, the project will feature a receiving port capable of accommodating ships with a tonnage of approximately 100,000 DWT.
The project is slated for commercial operation before 2030.
Once completed, the electricity generated from the plant will be connected to the 500kV Quang Trach - Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa power line or, alternatively, considered for connection to the Nghi Son LNG Thermal Power Plant.
