Northern Ninh Binh province welcomed more than 6.5 million tourists in the first seven months of the year, surging 33.8% year-on-year, according to the provincial Statistics Office.
Of which, there were 746,800 foreign holiday makers, tripling the figure of the same period last year.
In July alone, nearly 406,000 tourists visited the province, up 20.5% year-on-year.
Tourism revenue reached over VND6.26 trillion ($247 million) in the Jan-July period, marking a significant growth of 47.6% compared to the same period last year.
Ninh Binh also posted high growth in other economic indicators in the seven-month period.
Its Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 11.35% year-on-year.
Total export turnover was estimated at over $1.93 billion, soaring 8.8% year-on-year. Key export products included footwear, cameras and accessories, cement and electronic components.
Total retail sales of consumer goods reached over VND46 trillion ($1.81 billion), jumping 26.3% against the same period last year.
