Non-cash payment transactions on the rise

Non-cash payment transactions through NAPAS nearly doubled in 2022.

The number of non-cash payment transactions through the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) nearly doubled in 2022 compared to 2021, according to NAPAS General Director Nguyen Quang Minh.

Meanwhile, the proportion of cash withdrawals out of total transactions processed through the NAPAS system fell from 12 per cent in 2021 to 6.56 per cent in 2022.

The proportion of chip card transactions made through the system surged to more than 60 per cent in 2022 from 26 per cent in the year prior.

The total number of transactions and the total value through the NAPAS system in 2022 rose by 96.5 per cent and 87.3 per cent, respectively, against 2021.
