Over 2,900 businesses had been established this year in north-central Thanh Hoa province as of November 14, according to local authorities.
It therefore leads the north-central region and ranks eighth among Vietnam’s 63 cities and province in the number of newly-established enterprises, following Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh.
Total registered capital stood at VND17.739 trillion ($739 million).
New enterprises chiefly operate in the fields of retail, construction, manufacturing and processing, and automobile repair.
They are expected to create 32,261 jobs.
Since early in the year, 813 existing enterprises resumed operations, a year-on-year decline of 26.9 per cent, while 278 others ceased operations while waiting to complete dissolution procedures, up 56.2 per cent year-on-year.
