Vietnam sent more than 78,600 workers abroad in the first six months of the year, equivalent to 62.91% of the annual plan, according to the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
Japan continues to be the leading destination, receiving 40,596 Vietnamese workers during the period. It was followed by Taiwan (China) with 27,837 and South Korea with 5,582, the Government News has reported.
The number of Vietnamese workers working in Japan accounts for up to 50% of the total number of workers working abroad every year.
The MoLISA has set a target of sending 125,000 Vietnamese workers abroad this year.
Over 600,000 Vietnamese laborers are currently working in 50 countries and territories.
