Around 15,720 new enterprises were established in June with total registered capital of VND143.01 trillion ($5.61 billion), figures from the Business Registration Management Agency at the Ministry of Planning and Investment show.

The figures represent a year-on-year increase of 13.1% in number of businesses and 3.1% in registered capital, respectively.

This brings the total number of newly-established enterprises in the first six months of the year to 80,480, up 6.1% year-on-year. Their total registered capital was estimated at VND744.24 trillion ($29.2 billion), up 5.2% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, over 39,130 existing enterprises resumed operation in the six-month period.

The first half of 2024 also saw over 110,000 businesses registering for a temporary suspension of operations, soaring 10.3% year-on-year.
