Panasonic Vietnam held an opening ceremony in Hanoi on July 11 for the 15th season of its Kid Witness News (KWN) film-making program, attended by more than 100 parents, teachers, and students from 16 groups at primary, secondary, and high schools.
The KWN program managed to continue during two years of difficulties due to the pandemic, with certain parts of the film-making course converted to online. This 15th season is a complete return, full of excitement and freshness. For the first time, the films of participating teams will be premiered at the KWN Film Festival in a professional cinema. Many online and face-to-face skills training and exchange activities will also be held to provide the most beneficial experience to students.
According to Mr. Dang Ngoc Dung, a lecturer in the KWN program, it is a meaningful educational endeavor because the children will be empowered with the new tool of filming and have the opportunity to show different perspectives in telling stories about life in a pure, humane, and meaningful way. “I am very happy to accompany them in this filmmaking season,” he said.
The KWN program has been implemented by Panasonic for many years, with the aim of creating a healthy and rewarding playground for students, especially during the summer, and where they can enrich their knowledge about environmental and social issues and pick up soft skills through the process of learning about film-making. “KWN can help my friends and I improve our communication skills and promote our creativity in learning about cinema,” said Nguyen Binh Minh, leader of the Binh Minh filmmaking team from the Dich Vong Hau Secondary School.
Panasonic also wants to empower children - the future owners of the country - with the opportunity to express their views, through which they can show their initiative and awareness and their own perspectives on social and global issues.
