Legislators unanimously elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam as State President for the 2026–2031 term at the first session of the 16th National Assembly held in Hanoi on April 7.
To Lam, aged 69, will serve a five-year term, from 2026 to 2031.
Following the vote, the swearing-in ceremony for the State President was held solemnly in accordance with constitutional provisions.
