Party General Secretary To Lam has called on the Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam) to continue safeguarding national energy security and proactively develop a strategic energy reserve strategy.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Hanoi on September 21 to mark Petrovietnam’s 50th founding anniversary (September 3, 1975 – 2025), the Party leader urged the group to accelerate the completion and expansion of integrated petrochemical refinery complexes; develop the manufacturing of drilling rigs, energy equipment, and new materials; and increase localization in the supply chain.

He also instructed the group to establish national ecological industrial–energy centers linked with infrastructure and supporting industries, and to promote high-tech services, with the long-term goal of transforming Petrovietnam into a leading regional industrial-technical contractor.

General Secretary To Lam further emphasized the importance of pioneering in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation to ensure sustainable growth.

At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam and other senior Party and State leaders, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, joined Petrovietnam executives in launching the “STEM Innovation Petrovietnam” program, which aims to build STEM classrooms equipped with digital technologies, upgrade educational infrastructure, and strengthen connections among schools, localities, and international partners.
