Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city to promote administrative reform and digital transformation to save costs and the ease difficulties facing people and enterprises.

Speaking at a meeting with Can Tho leaders on May 14 to review its production, trade, investment, and import and export efforts and seek solutions to boost socio-economic development, Prime Minister Chinh asked the city to drastically resolve all obstacles relating to land, housing, and site clearance, quickly complete municipal planning, and effectively use the country’s aid package of VND120 trillion ($5 billion) for social housing development.

The city was instructed to promote the socio-economic recovery and development program, step up the three national target programs, stimulate investment and consumption, and bolster the three growth drivers of consumption, exports, and investment, including public - private partnerships in investment projects.

Can Tho recorded year-on-year GRDP growth of 4.02 per cent in the first quarter of this year and increases of 4.81 per cent in the Index of Industrial Production and 7.1 per cent in export earnings.

The city’s public investment capital disbursement stands at 23.6 per cent of the annual target.
