Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged authorities in northern mountainous Ha Giang province to speed up administrative reform, improve the local business and investment environment, and tackle difficulties facing businesses in order to attract more investment and boost socio-economic development.

At a working session with local authorities on May 28, Prime Minister Chinh called for faster public investment disbursement and implementation of national target programs and the socio-economic recovery and development program.

The province also needs to focus on infrastructure development, particularly transport infrastructure, to ensure provincial, inter-provincial, regional, and international links as well as boost digital transformation, he said.

The Prime Minster directed Ha Giang to pay attention to promoting the three growth drivers of investment, consumption, and exports, restructure its industrial sector, and improve the efficiency of border gate economic zones.

He also emphasized that given its potential, Ha Giang should develop tourism into an economic spearhead by building high-quality and unique products linked with local culture. The province welcomed 2.2 million tourists last year; 2.4-fold higher than in 2021.

It posted GRDP growth of 7.62 per cent in 2022.
