Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked authorities in northern Quang Ninh province to invest in building Mong Cai Port to promote north-south maritime transportation.

Speaking at a meeting with provincial authorities on February 12, Prime Minister Chinh said Quang Ninh has many favorable conditions for socio-economic development and is the only province in Vietnam sharing both land and sea borders with China.

He called on the province to fully capitalize on transport corridors; promote connectivity between its localities and other cities and provinces; develop a green and clean environment, civilized society, and developed culture; and boost both the speed and quality of growth in tandem with innovation, digital transformation, green transition, the circular economy, and climate change response.

It needs to continue developing strategic infrastructure, he added, especially transport facilities; step up administrative reform and digital transformation, particularly in finance, taxation, and customs; properly manage and bring into play the value of local relic sites and scenic landscapes; and pay greater attention to human resources training.
