Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered that drastic measures be taken to ensure electricity supply in 2024 and the years to come, the Government News has reported.
In a dispatch sent to relevant ministries, agencies, and localities on December 25, Prime Minister Chinh said that ensuring national energy security is a fundamental and decisive factor in the country’s industrialization and modernization process.
Many measures have been taken to ensure electricity supply but shortcomings remain, leading to power shortages in certain areas at certain times, particularly in the northern region in late May and early June this year.
The government leader asked relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to strictly implement directions and guidelines from the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers on ensuring electricity supply for production, trade, and consumption in 2024 and subsequent years.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) was directed to carry out tasks and measures for electricity supply under the national electricity supply and operation of the national grid plan for 2024, especially preparations for electricity production during the dry season.
It was also asked to speed up the implementation of key electricity projects, particularly facilitating the construction of the 500 kV national transmission line, circuit 3, with the aim of completing and putting the project in operation next June.
