Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed ministries, agencies, and localities to step up efforts to promote rice production and exports while stability in the domestic market.
The Vietnam News Agency quoted an official dispatch signed by the PM on September 9, as reporting that the PM tasked the Ministry of Industry and Trade with diversifying export markets, organizing trade promotion activities, and maintaining traditional buyers while expanding into new potential destinations.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was instructed to accelerate research and development of high-yield, high-quality rice varieties, improve infrastructure, and apply advanced technologies to enhance post-harvest preservation. Policies to develop raw material zones, strengthen value-chain linkages, and guide enterprises in rice purchasing must also be implemented effectively.
The Ministry of Finance was asked to support exporters by streamlining customs procedures, applying modern management methods, and expediting VAT refunds.
Meanwhile, the State Bank of Vietnam was tasked with directing commercial banks to increase credit for enterprises involved in rice production, processing, purchasing, and exports, especially during periods of market volatility, to help them seize opportunities and mitigate risks in line with regulations.
