While presenting a report on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2022 to the fourth session of the 15th National Assembly, which opened on October 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam’s economic performance has been very positive but difficulties persist. The plan for 2023 will continue to give priority to maintaining macro-economic stability and controlling inflation.

Results include flexibly and effectively implementing the goal of both preventing and controlling Covid-19, ensuring socio-economic recovery and development, and maintaining macro-economic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances in the context of domestic and international difficulties. Work has also been ongoing in building and perfecting institutions, while law enforcement continues to be viewed as a key task.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that socio-economic development still exhibits some shortcomings and limitations. Covid-19 remains complex, with issues in vaccination programs, while law creation at some ministries and branches is still subject to delays.

“It is also necessary to hasten strategic breakthroughs and promote the Socio-economic Recovery and Development Program and three National Target Programs,” the Prime Minister said. “The focus should be on building and perfecting institutions and laws, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of administration and law enforcement, and stepping up the fight against corruption.”

To achieve these goals, he spoke of the need to perform tasks well in continuing to give priority to maintaining macro-economic stability, controlling inflation, promoting growth, and ensuring major balances in the economy. The prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic will continue, with the global situation monitored and an effective response plan prepared for possible outbreaks.
