Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked relevant ministries, agencies and localities to take measures to accelerate national key transport infrastructure projects with the aim of completing additional 1,200 km of expressways by 2025, the Government News has reported.
Chairing the 13th meeting of the State steering committee for national key transport projects and works to discuss solutions to difficulties and obstacles in the task in Hanoi on August 8, PM Chinh reiterated the target of having 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030 as set at the 13th National Party Congress in early 2021.
The PM underlined the urgency to handle issues related to procedures for common construction material mines for projects, progress of site handover and relocation of technical infrastructure, and construction of projects managed by state agencies.
According to reports at the meeting, two projects with 12 highway sub-projects totaling 693 km passing through 15 provinces and cities have been completed, raising the total length of expressways nationwide to 2,021 km.
Meanwhile, some 1,700 km of expressways are under construction across the country.
