PM sets up working groups to speed up public capital disbursement

50 of 52 ministries and central agencies and 19 of 63 localities have disbursement rates of less than 5%.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision setting up five working groups to examine and speed up disbursement of public investment in 2023.

They will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the difficulties and obstacles in implementing public investment projects, especially those using Official Development Assistance (ODA) and preferential loans from foreign donors, and for proposing solutions to promote the disbursement of public investment.

Public investment capital in 2023 totals over VND 700 trillion ($29.85 billion).

Disbursement in the first two months of this year was nearly VND49 trillion ($2.05 billion), or 6.55 per cent of the annual plan, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Fifty of 52 ministries and central agencies and 19 of 63 cities and provinces have posted disbursement rates of less than 5 per cent.
