Vietnam posted GDP growth of 6.93% year-on-year in the second quarter in spite of negative impacts from the global economy, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The figure is higher than the GDP growth scenarios of the Government at 5.85% and 6.32% which were developed basing on the GDP growth of the first quarter.
The growth is a positive sign for Vietnam to pursue the 2024 growth target of 6.5%, the GSO said at a press briefing held on June 29.
GDP growth in the first half was estimated at 6.42%.
The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector recorded growth of 3.38% in the first six months; industry and construction 7.51%; and services 6.64%.
