The People’s Committee of Quang Tri province in central Vietnam has approved investment policies for two new wind power projects with a total investment capital estimated at over VND3.5 trillion ($133 million).
The Phong Lieu Wind Power Plant Expansion Project will be implemented in Khe Sanh, Lao Bao, and Huong Phung communes. With a designed capacity of 35MW, the project will comprise seven turbines of about 5MW each. Total investment is estimated at VND1.4 trillion ($53.9 million), and implementation is expected to take 32 months once the investor is selected, projected for the fourth quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, the Tan Hop 1 Wind Power Plant Project will be developed in Khe Sanh commune with a designed capacity of 50MW, consisting of eight turbines with a capacity of 6.25MW each. The project has an estimated investment of over VND2 trillion ($79.9 million). The investor is expected to be chosen in the fourth quarter of 2025, with implementation scheduled to last 21 months.
As of early 2025, Quang Tri had put into operation 20 wind power projects, three solar power projects, and 11 hydropower projects, along with several rooftop solar systems, bringing the province’s total installed capacity to over 1,119 MW.
